The Pinkston Group, a small public relations firm near Old Town Alexandria, is looking to hire two PR professionals. The ideal candidate for the first position will have five to 10 years experience working with the media on the Hill, at a PR firm, or in-house at a company or association. Applicants for the senior position should be able to analyze and solve communications challenges with minimal guidance and direction from senior staff.

Candidates for the second position preferably will have one to four years of similar experience, although new college graduates are also welcome to apply.

Our clients include major corporations, government contractors, industry associations and some right-leaning causes. We try to approach client challenges individually, avoiding cookie-cutter plans or other ready-made solutions.

For both positions, experience with proactive pitching is highly valued. Applicants must be able to manage multiple assignments within tight timeframes. Job duties will include pitching client products or issues; developing strategic communications plans; writing press releases, op-eds, speeches, talking points and other briefing materials; and providing guidance and support for other staff members. Very good writing skills are a requirement. Demonstrably excellent writing skills will dramatically improve your chances.
